James C. Gray was born in Gastonia, North Carolina on May 25, 1943, and attended local schools. He graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1965 with a degree in Mathematics and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Gray received his Juris Doctorate from the University of North Carolina School of Law and was admitted to the Bar in 1968. Mr. Gray returned home to open his law practice and is a member of the Gaston County Bar, the North Carolina State Bar Association, and the North Carolina Advocates for Justice. He has also been admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina and the United States Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. His practice is limited to criminal and traffic defense, personal injury, and wrongful death.
